Job Summary:
The Accounting Analyst is a primarily remote role, responsible for managing all aspects of full-cycle accounting using QuickBooks Online and Tipalti, including: processing and monitoring accounts receivable and accounts payable, completing month-end reconciliations, posting journal entries, managing the finance office email, and assisting in preparing reports for management. This is a fast-paced role involving a broad scope of duties, in a non-profit organization with a variety of complex processes and high-tech services.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable duties for BCNET, including but not limited to:
- Code vendor invoices using multiple currencies in accordance with the BCNET budget
- Ensure expense reimbursement claims comply with BCNET Travel & Expense policies
- Assist other departments with purchase requests, purchase orders, equipment purchasing, and budgeted spending, under the guidance of the Finance Manager
- Assist vendors with registration to Tipalti
- Generate and issue customer invoices in accordance with the BCNET budget
- Follow up on outstanding customer payments
- Communicate directly with vendors and customers to assist with their questions and issues
- Post banking transactions and complete monthly bank reconciliations
Manage the full-cycle accounting duties for BCNET, including but not limited to:
- Monitor the finance office email and respond to queries from within and outside the organization
- Post journal entries and complete month-end and year-end reconciliations
- Track capital asset purchases and amortization
- Track and maintain deferred revenue and prepaid balances, and monitor government grant balances
- Assist the Finance Manager with other tasks as required
- Assist the HR Generalist with payroll duties as required
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, accounting or related area
- Specific training in financial accounting is required
- CPA designation, or progression toward a CPA is an asset
- At least 3 years prior accounting experience
- Expert in Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with QuickBooks Online and/or Tipalti is an asset
- Excellent communicator: clear, concise and courteous, with client relations in mind
- Interest in information technology
- Work well in a remote role, independently and in groups
- Detail-oriented and well-organized
- Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, challenging environment
- Ability to multitask and manage many different projects simultaneously
- Occasional travel to the BCNET office in downtown Vancouver will be required

Compensation
$57,970.00 - $68,200.00 per year
